BIG RED FREAKOUT!
Saturday's game will be the 40th Annual Big Red Freakout! at Rensselaer ... The Engineers are 21-13-5 in previous games, which includes a 17-game unbeaten streak (13-0-5) from 1991 to 2007 ... RPI has never faced Quinnipiac in a Freakout! game ... The Engineers are just 3-6-0 since the streak ended, including a 4-2 loss to Clarkson last season.

The year 1987 was a turning point in the history of the Big Red Freakout! ... The opponent was Brown and RPI jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first period ... The Engneers went on to win the penalty-filled game, 8-3, but the reason for the turning point in the event did not occur on the ice ... The favor for the game was a stadium horn ... The combination of those horns and the number of past favors brought to the game caused an incredible amount of noise that it had an effect on the outcome of the game ... The NCAA stepped in and restricted the type of gift that could be given out.
PACING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac is led offensively by sophomore defenseman Chase Priskie (7 goals, 16 assists), who has 23 points entering this weekend's action ... Freshman and fellow blueliner Brogan Rafferty (2 goals, 20 assists) has 22 points, while three players have 21, including senior Tim Clifton (12 goals, 9 assists).
QU GOALTENDING
Freshman Andrew Shortridge has started seven of the team's last nine games in goal and is 6-5-0 with a 2.20 goals against average and a .917 save percentage ... Sophomore Chris Truehl (10-8-2) has a 2.66 goals against average and an. 899 save percentage ... He lasted just 20 minutes last night at No. 7 Union, making six saves on nine shots before being relieved by Shortridge for the final two periods ... Shortridge stopped 16 of 17 in the 4-1 defeat.
ALL-TIME VS. QUINNIPIAC
The Bobcats are 13-6-9 in the all-time series, which dates back to October 16, 1999 ... RPI won the inaugural meeting, 6-4, in Albany ... Quinnipiac owns a 13-game unbeaten streak (8-0-5) in the series, with Rensselaer last win coming on February 19, 2010 at the Houston Field House ... The Engineers swept the season series that year, taking the first meeting, 4-1.
