LAST SEASON'S MATCHUP: Rensselaer shook off a slow start and routed Bard, 18-3 ... The Raptors scored first, and RPI had a 3-2 lead after an evenly-played first quarter, but it all changed in the second quarter ... The Engineers scored four goals in the first six minutes to make it 7-2, and it was 11-2 at halftime after a 8-0 second quarter ... Fifteen different players scored for Rensselaer ... Matthew Gilman, Jake Weidner and Jordan Gans each scored twice ... Bard got two goals from George Goceljak and one from Blake Burnley.

RPI ON THURSDAY: Breanainn McNeally scored three goals with three assists, Zach Lukas had three goals of his own and David Gibbs made 11 saves to lead RPI to an 8-5 win at Montclair State ... After falling behind 2-0 in the first eight minutes, the Engineers held MSU scoreless until there was under seven minutes left in the third quarter ... In the meantime, RPI tallied five times for a 5-2 advantage ... Gibbs earned the win with his 11 saves, including three in the second and four in the third ... e also had three ground balls ... Senior Pete Adorno forced four turnovers and collected two ground balls.

WIN 901: Rensselaer's victory over the Red Hawks on Thursday was the 901st in school history with a 16-9 win at Whittier over Spring Break being the 900th ... This year is the 75th of RPI men's lacrosse, which has an all-time record of 517-38903 (including the 1948 Olympic Exhibition Tour in England).

HONORED: Rensselaer's David Gibbs was selected as the Men's Lacrosse Defensive Performer of the Week by the Liberty League following the season opener in late February ... In a 17-10 win over Keene State, he had 18 saves, stopping six of nine in the second quarter, including a point-blank attempt with the Owls on a man-up while holding a lead ... He then saved all eight shots he saw in the third quarter when the Engineers opened a 15-5 lead.

RIGHT BACK: The Engineers return to East Campus Stadium on Wednesday when they host Plattsburgh in a non-league game ... Faceoff is set for 4pm ... RPI is 3-2 all-time against the Cardinals, including three straight wins.

BARD ON WEDNESDAY: Bard lost at Hood College 15-3 ... The Blazers dominated from the start, outshooting Bard 18-3 en route to 4-1 lead by the end of the first quarter ... Hood broke open the game by outscoring Bard 7-0 in the second quarter to take an 11-1 halftime lead ... From the last minute of the first quarter to the last minute of the third quarter, the Blazers scored 10 unanswered goals ... For Bard, Emmet O'Connell scored twice and Ian Shaw scored once ... Lyle Healey made 11 saves, and Troy Ludtka made four ... William Baffuto caused three turnovers and Sam Smith collected five ground balls.
