GAMEDAY (April 29, 2017): The Engineers (10-4; 3-3 Liberty League) play their final regular season game when they welcome Clarkson (8-5; 3-3 Liberty League) to East Campus Stadium for a critical Liberty League contest (1pm).

SENIOR DAY: Following the game, a ceremony will be held to recognize eight senior student-athletes from the Engineers and their families: Peter Adorno, Chaz Bell, David Gibbs, Matt Hall, Breanainn McNeally, Mark Surgent, Harrison Walsh & Jake Weidner. 

ACCOMPLISHED: The RPI Men's Lacrosse Class of 2017 enters the season finale with 44 wins in their careers - the most in school history by any class ... They earned two post-season bids, including an NCAA Tournament berth last season.

SCORESHEET: In 347 games as a class, Rensselaer's eight seniors have 333 goals and 115 assists for 458 points, with 344 ground balls and 440 saves.

THE STANDINGS: Rensselaer and the Golden Knights are in a four-way tie with Union and Vassar for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Liberty League standings ... RPI defeated Union but lost to Vassar; Vassar lost to Clarkson and plays Union on Saturday; and Union beat Clarkson.

COMMON OPPONENT: The Engineers and Golden Knights have both played non-league games against Plattsburgh State and both were victorious ... RPI won 14-5 at home on March 29 and Clarkson won at Plattsburgh, 11-10, on March 7.

ALL-TIME: Rensselaer has played Clarkson 53 times in program history, leading the series, 30-23.

EARLY ON: The first head-to-head matchup between RPI and the Golden Knights was May 7, 1966, a 21-1 Rensselaer win in Troy ... The Engineers won  the first six meetings, which ran through the 1971 season.

BREAKDOWNS: RPI is 18-8 at home against Clarkson and 28-22 in conference contests ... Rensselaer's most recent home win was an 8-2 win three games ago (2010).

ON THIS DATE: RPI and Clarkson have played on April 29 on two previous occasions and the Engineers have posted two-goal victories in Troy in both ... Rensselaer defeated the Golden Knights 10-8 in 1975 and 14-12 in 1983.

OF LATE: The Engineers are 2-4 in the last six meetings with the Golden Knights and 3-7 in the last 10 ... RPI has won 2 of 3, including an 18-12 victory last year in Potsdam.

LAST SEASON'S MATCHUP: Breanainn McNeally scored four goals to reach the 50-goal plateau as the Engineers defeated Clarkson, 18-12 ... RPI jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by JT Kelly, Mark Surgent and McNeally and eventually built it to 13 goals (18-5) before the Golden Knights scored the final seven of the contest ... Kelly finished with four goals and two assists and Matthew Gilman scored twice with two assists ... Sam Groves and Scott Dosser had three goals and an assist apiece for Clarkson.
 
RPI LAST TIME OUT: St. Lawrence jumped out to a 4-0 lead and then answered a pair of goals by Rensselaer with 11 consecutive of its own as the No. 7 Saints defeated the Engineers 16-4 last Saturday ... Four different players scored for RPI, which saw its winning streak snapped at five games. 

CLARKSON LAST TIME OUT: In a home game against Skidmore, the Golden Knights rattled off seven straight goals to take a 9-2 lead and Clarkson defeated the Thoroughbreds, 19-13 ... Nick Strandholm made 10 saves for the win and Ryan Gabriel won 21 of the game's 34 faceoffs ... Ryan DaRin finished with a game-high nine points on six goals and three assists.
