ONEONTA, N.Y. - 
JT Kelly had three goals and four assists and 11 others notched at least one point as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's lacrosse team defeated Oneonta 19-7 in a non-conference contest. The Engineers outscored the Red Dragons 10-2 in the middle two quarters to take control of the game and improve to 6-3. Oneonta falls to 3-6.
The two teams battled tightly through the first period with RPI holding a 4-3 lead.

Zach Lukas scored back-to-back to get things started for the Engineers in the opening four minutes. Sophomore Jimmy Kickel got one back for the Red Dragons at the 8:22 mark. The two teams then exchanged goals to reach the 4-3 score at the horn.
 
The second period was all RPI, as it registered six goals while holding Oneonta to just one. Six different players scored for the Engineers including 
Jake Weidner, who tallied with six seconds remaining in the period. Sophomore Stephen Panno was the lone goal scorer for Oneonta in the period.
The Engineers added four goals in the third period to add to its first half total of 10. Four different players scored including 
Matthew Gilman, who found the back of the cage with 10 seconds left for a 14-5 edge.
 
Panno scored both of Oneonta's goals in the fourth period and RPI scored five more for the final margin of victory.
 
Sophomore Andrew Helfman played 50 minutes for the Red Dragons in goal and made 14 saves. The Engineers used three goalies and they combined for nine saves.
 
RPI hosts Union College in a Liberty League contest on Saturday at 1pm. Oneonta hosts SUNY Potsdam on Saturday in a SUNYAC contest at 1pm.
