Engineers Fall at St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. – Sophomore Sabrina Repaci brought the Engineers within two at St. Lawrence, but Rensselaer lost to the Saints 5-1 in an ECACH matchup Saturday afternoon.
 
St. Lawrence's (12-7-3, 8-3-1 ECACH) Kennedy Marchment led the game with three points on two goals and one assist.
 
The Saint's Justine Reyes opened up scoring 8:58 into the first period with assists from Skyler Podvey and Marchment.
 
After a scoreless second period, Rachel Smith and Marchment both scored power play goals at the beginning of the third to put St. Lawrence up 3-0. Kayla Nielson, Lydia Grauer, Hannah Miller and Podvey each added assists.
 
RPI (7-12-5, 4-6-2 ECACH) broke through the defense 8:21 into the third period after Repaci found the back of the net on an assist from Makenna Thomas.
 
The Engineers pulled junior netminder Lovisa Selander from the net for an extra skater in the final minutes, but Marchment scored a shorthanded goal with 1:34 left in the game on an assist from Miller. St. Lawrence added their fifth and final goal with twenty seconds left in the game on a Natalie Wozney goal from Jacquie Diffley and Amanda McClure.
 
Grace Harrison was credited with the win on an 18 save effort while Selander was credited with loss on a 25 save game.
 
The Engineers remain in the eighth in the ECACH with ten points while Clarkson and Colgate lead the conference with 29 points. Quinnipiac (18 points) and St. Lawrence (17 points) round out the top with Cornell (16 points), Princeton (15 points) and Harvard (13 points) in fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
 
Rensselaer goes back on the road next weekend as the Engineers take on #6 Cornell (3pm) Friday and #4 Colgate (3pm) Saturday.
