Men's Hockey Headed to Brown and Yale This Weekend

Engineers begin stretch of five away from the HFH on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (7pm)

ROAD TRIPPIN'
The Engineers are back on the road this weekend, when they travel to Brown and Yale, on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (7pm) ... RPI has just six road games left, including this weekend's contest.

CLARKSON BLANKS ENGINEERS
Sophomore Nico Sturm scored a pair of goals, including an empty-netter to lead then-No. 3 Clarkson to a 3-0 victory over RPI on Saturday night at the Houston Field House ... Rensselaer freshman goalie Linden Marshall made 31 stops on 33 shots, including all 12 shots that he faced in the second period.

LILJEGREN NETS OT WINNER
Senior Viktor Liljegren scored 1:39 into overtime to lift the Engineers to a 2-1 victory over St. Lawrence on Friday night at the Houston Field House ... RPI received 19 saves from freshman netminder Linden Marshall ... Classmate Billy Jerry netted the opening goal for the Engineers, while sophomore Will Reilly assisted on both Rensselaer tallies on the night.

RPI AND HARVARD TIE
Freshman goaltender Linden Marshall made a career-high 45 saves to lead the Engineers to a 2-2 tie with Harvard on Tuesday night at the Houston Field House ... Senior Viktor Liljegren netted the game's opening goal, before the Crimson fought back to take a 2-1 lead ... RPI senior captain Jared Wilson netted the equalizing goal at 10:07 of the third period on a 5-on-3 power play.

RPI LEADERS
Sophomore Jacob Hayhurst leads the Engineers with 15 points on seven goals and eight assists through 23 games ... Junior Evan Tironese (6 goals, 8 assists) has 14 points, while sophomore Will Reilly (7 goals, 5 assists) rounds out the top three with 12 ... Senior blueliner Mike Prapavessis has a team-high 11 assists for 11 points.

ENGINEERS GOALTENDING
Freshman netminder Linden Marshall is 3-9-2 with a 2.98 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 16 games (15 starts) ... Junior Chase Perry has started nine games for the Engineers this season, going 1-7-2 with a 3.55 goals against average and a .897 save percentage.

ALL-TIME VS. BROWN
Rensselaer has enjoyed a program-best 63-28-8 record against the Bears, dating back to their first ever meeting on December 28, 1951 – a 5-0 Brown victory at the Houston Field House ... The Engineers put together a 20-game unbeaten streak (19-0-1) from December 29, 1982 to February 1, 1992, before compiling a nine-game unbeaten stretch (8-0-1) from January 20, 2006 to November 7, 2009.

RECENTLY
The Engineers are 7-3-1 over the last 11 meetings ... Brown snapped a four-game RPI winning streak last season, winning 6-3 on December 10, 2016 ... The Bears last victory at the Houston Field House came on February 13, 2015 – a 6-3 win.

BROWN WINS IN OVERTIME
The Bears scored four unanswered goals to beat RPI, 5-4 in overtime, on December 2 at the Houston Field House ... Tommy Marchin had a hat trick along with an assist to pace the visitors, while Gavin Nieto made 27 saves ... The Engineers received goals from Jacob Hayhurst, Charlie Manley and Billy Jerry, while Mike Prapavessis had two assists ... Freshman netminder Linden Marshall registered 25 saves.

ALL-TIME VS. YALE
The Engineers own a 57-47-6 lead in the all-time series with Yale, which dates back to January 22, 1909 – a 3-0 Bulldogs victory in Albany ... Yale won the first four meetings, until RPI was able to come away with a 4-2 decision on December 10, 1953, in New Haven.

RECENTLY
Yale has won seven of the last nine meetings going back to February 7, 2014 ... RPI's lone victory prior to this year's 2-1 win came on November 13, 2015 – a 3-2 overtime win at the Houston Field House ... Prior to that stretch, the Engineers had won six of the previous eight.

ENGINEERS TOP YALE
Rensselaer answered an early third period Bulldogs goal with two of the their own in defeating Yale, 2-1, on December 1 at the Houston Field House ... Senior captain Jared Wilson netted the equalizing tally at 12:31 of the frame, before classmate Viktor Liljegren scored the eventual game-winner at 17:04 ... Freshman goaltender Linden Marshall had 32 stops for his first career conference victory.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Junior Joe Snively paces Yale with 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points ... Senior Ryan Hitchcock (3 goals, 9 assists) has 12 points, while junior Ted Hart (6 goals, 5 assists) has 11 ... Sophomore Billy Sweezey (7 assists) leads all Bulldogs defenseman with seven points.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Junior Sam Tucker (5-7-1) has started 13 of the team's 17 games, carrying a 2.92 goals against average and an .898 save percentage into the weekend ... Sophomore Corbin Kaczperski (3-1-0) has a 2.01 goals against average and a .930 save percentage in four starts.

VIKTOR VS. YALE
Engineers senior Viktor Liljegren has five points (4 goals, 1 assists) in his last five games against Yale, including the overtime-winner on November 13, 2015 at the Houston Field House.

2016-17 VS. YALE
The Bulldogs swept the season series, winning 3-2 in overtime on November 5, 2016 at the Houston Field House, before taking a 7-3 decision on December 9, 2016 in New Haven ... Drew Melanson and Viktor Liljegren netted RPI's goals in the OT defeat, while Liljegren, Riley Bourbonnais and Jimmy DeVito all tallied in the road loss.

MARSHALL HONORED
ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly awards and Linden Marshall has been named Goaltender of the Week ... A freshman from Victoria, B.C., Marshall posted a 1.61 goals against average and a .950 save percentage in the three contests ... He led the nation in total saves, turning away 95 of the 100 shots he faced, including a career-high 45 against Harvard.

OTT ADDED
Rensselaer added forward Donovan Ott to the roster last week ... The former Johnstown Tomahawks standout is eligible to play immediately ... He had seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in 17 North American Hockey League (NAHL) games this season ... The 6-1, 200 pound freshman will wear number 22 for the Engineers.

GORNALL JOINS ENGINEERS
Sophomore Mike Gornall will be added to the roster as a transfer from the University of North Dakota ... While ineligible to play this season under NCAA guidelines, he can practice with the Engineers after enrolling at the institute this January.

MARSHALL RECENTLY
In his last 12 starts, freshman netminder Linden Marshall has posted a 2.78 goals against average and a .914 save percentage ... He has a 2-8-1 record over that stretch.
