GAMEDAY (Jan. 26, 2018): The Engineers (8-8; 3-6 Liberty League) play a pair of home league games this weekend, beginning with a matchup against RIT (8-8; 6-3) ... Skidmore (9-6; 5-4) visits East Campus Arena on Saturday (4pm).

STANDINGS: Halfway through the league slate, Rensselaer is in eighth place in the conference with three victories ... RPI is one win from sixth ... The Tigers sit in third with six wins, two victories from first ... The top six schools qualify for the post-season.

LAST WEEKEND: The Engineers dropped a couple of conference contests, losing at Ithaca on Friday (75-69) and at Union on Saturday afternoon (64-59).

LAST FRIDAY: Tom Horvat scored 26 points and fellow junior Marcus Giese registered a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, but it was not enough to help Rensselaer overcome a 14-point halftime deficit ... The Engineers fell at Ithaca, 75-69.

ON SATURDAY: Union scored six straight points to break a tie with under three minutes remaining and the Dutchmen defeated the Engineers, 64-59 ... With the score tied 56-56 with 2:53 to play, Union made four free throws and a basket to go ahead 62-56 with 32 seconds remaining ... The Dutchmen also forced a pair of turnovers in that span ... Rensselaer junior Tom Horvat cut the deficit in half with a three-pointer with 18 seconds left, but Kevin Weckworth answered with two free throws for the five-point margin ... Horvat scored 20 points with seven rebounds, three assists and four steals to lead the team ... Marcus Giese scored 11 with five rebounds and Mitchel Wayand notched 10 points in 29 minutes off the bench.

RIT shot 39.7 percent from the floor on 25-of-63 shooting with Troy Pierre-Louis leading the Tigers with 26 points and five assists ... Anthony Lewis tallied 11 points, while Robert Aguilera scored eight points with 13 rebounds and had five blocks ... Andreas Kontopidis led Rensselaer with 23 points and five rebounds ...
