DURHAM, N.H. - Forward Meghara McManus scored two goals and Kyra Smith stopped 20 shots to lead the University of New Hampshire (UNH) to a 4-1 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in a non-league ice hockey game on Sunday afternoon.

McManus put the Wildcats in front at 6:47 of the first period when she scored soon after a power play opportunity expired. Tori Howran and Taylor Wenczkowski had the assists on the goal, the third of the season for McManus. Maddie Truax doubled the lead 10:03 later when she tallied for UNH, which held a 22-3 advantage in shots on goal in the first 20 minutes.

The Wildcats needed just 1:43 of the second period to make it 3-0, this time on a goal from Lauren Martin. McManus made it a four-goal game with 3:02 to play in the middle frame, tallying a power play goal with assists going to Marie-Jo Pelletier and Martin.

Josephine Hansen, who had an assist in a 1-1 tie between the two teams on Saturday, got the Engineers to within three goals just 1:40 into the third period, but Smith stopped each of the shots she faced from that point. Delaney Weiss and Blake Orosz had the helpers on Hansen's goal, which is her third of the season.

Kira Bombay played all 60 minutes for Rensselaer. She stopped 43 shots, including 20 in the first period and 15 in the second. She is now 2-1 on the season. Smith improves to 2-4-1, while the team is 3-9-3.

RPI, which is now 4-7-4, is back on the road next weekend when it travels to Harvard on Friday for an ECAC Hockey game (3:30pm). The team then travels to Dartmouth for a conference game on Saturday at 3pm.
