The Engineers embark on their second to last road trip of the regular season this week, when they head west to face Colgate and nationally first-ranked Cornell on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (7pm).

UNION CAPTURES MAYOR'S CUP
Despite scoring the game's final three goals, the Engineers were unable to overcome an early deficit in falling to Union, 4-3, in the Sixth Annual Mayor's Cup at the Times Union Center on Saturday ... The Dutchmen scored twice in a three-minute span late in the first period to take a 2-0 lead ... Tyler Hines and Sebastian Vidmar then doubled the Union advantage in the first four minutes of the second ... RPI sophomore TJ Samec potted his first collegiate tally at 5:01 of the frame, before freshman Billy Jerry made it 4-2 at 7:43 ... Senior captain Jared Wilson cut the deficit to 4-3 just 29 seconds into the third, but the Engineers could not find the equalizing goal ... Darion Hansen (10-3-0) made 18 saves, while Rensselaer freshman Linden Marshall had 15 stops.

RPI LEADERS
Sophomore Jacob Hayhurst leads the Engineers with 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists through 27 games ... Junior Evan Tironese (6 goals, 8 assists) and senior Mike Prapavessis (14 assists) have 14 points apiece, while sophomore Will Reilly (7 goals, 5 assists) has 12.

ENGINEERS GOALTENDING
Freshman netminder Linden Marshall is 3-12-2 with a 3.10 goals against average and a .907 save percentage in 19 games (18 starts) ... Junior Chase Perry has started nine games for the Engineers this season, going 1-7-2 with a 3.55 goals against average and a .897 save percentage.

DOUBLE DIGITS
The Engineers have 10 players with double-digit point totals, including freshmen Billy Jerry (7 goals, 3 assists) and Emil Ohrvall (1 goal, 9 assists) ... Sophomore Patrick Polino is one away with nine (9 assists).

ALL-TIME VS. THE RAIDERS
RPI leads the all-time series with Colgate, 63-58-5 for a .520 winning percentage ... The Raiders were victorious in the first ever meeting – 6-1 in Hamilton ... RPI swept the season series last year, winning 5-2 at the Houston Field House and 3-2 in the Engineers first ever appearance at the Class of 1965 Arena.

ALL-TIME VS. CORNELL
The Big Red are 62-36-10 in the all-time series, which dates back to January 31, 1908 – a 4-0 Cornell win in Albany ... RPI went 2-2-1 during that season, with wins over Carnegie Tech and Union.

RECENTLY
RPI has enjoyed moderate success at Lynah Rink as of late, going 1-1-2 in its last four trips ... Prior to last season's 2-0 defeat, the three-game unbeaten streak in Ithaca was the Engineers' longest since they went 2-0-1 from 1996 to 1998.

Freshman Matthew Galajda (14-2-1) has a 1.52 goals against average and a .938 save percentage in 18 games ... He has six shutouts, including four in January alone ... Senior Hayden Stewart (4-0-0) has a 1.01 goals against average and a .956 save percentage in five games (3 starts), posting one shutout.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BEAT #1?
Rensselaer is 1-3-1 over its last five games against the USCHO.com nationally first ranked team in the country, dating back to January of 2014 ... The Engineers went 0-1-1 against Quinnipiac when the Bobcats were No. 1 in 2015-16 and fell at North Dakota, 5-2, on October 10, 2016 ... RPI's last victory over a top-ranked team came on October 11, 2015 – a 2-1 win over Boston College at the Houston Field House ... BUBELA '16 AN OLYMPIAN
Rensselaer graduate Milos Bubela '16 has been named to the Slovakian national team for the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea ... He is the fifth former Engineers player to compete in the Olympics, joining Joe Juneau (Canada), Marty Dallman (Austria), Mo Mansi (Italy) and Mathias Lange (Austria) ... A forward from Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, Bubela played in 139 career games for the Engineers, scoring 33 goals and adding 30 assists for 63 points.
