Box Score HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University men's hockey team scored three power play goals in defeating Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 4-1, on Saturday night at Frank Perrott Jr. Arena. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 13-15-4 (8-10-2 ECAC Hockey), while the Engineers drop to 5-23-4 (4-14-2 ECAC Hockey).

Junior Craig Martin (Trail, BC/Trail Smoke Eaters) got the hosts on the board at 4:57 of the first period, when he fired a shot past RPI freshman netminder Linden Marshall (Victoria, BC/Trail Smoke Eaters) from the left circle. Taking a pass back from senior Tanner MacMaster (Calgary, AB/Camrose Kodiaks), Martin beat Marshall high glove side for his fourth goal of the year.

The Engineers had a pair of late first period chances, but senior captain Jared Wilson (Calgary, AB/Vernon Vipers) saw his point blank shot kicked out by Quinnipiac freshman goalie Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, MA/Muskegon Lumberjacks), before sophomore Jake Marrello (Slingerlands, NY/PAL Jr. Islanders) had his follow up chance blocked by the defense.

Quinnipiac took advantage of a five-minute major midway through the second period, scoring twice in a span of 1:14. Junior Scott Davidson (Trail, BC/Chilliwack Chiefs) buried a one-time from the middle of the left circle, before classmate Brandon Fortunato (North Hills, NY/Boston University) got the on the end of a rebound for his fifth goal of the season.

Freshman Donovan Ott (Lebanon, PA/Johnstown Tomahawks) brought the Engineers within 3-1 at 11:35 of the third, whipping a shot inside the right post from left of the crease. The puck deflected off the end wall behind the Quinnipiac cage and popped out to Ott, who potted his second goal in as many nights. Wilson and classmate Mike Prapavessis (Oakville, ON/Toronto Patriots) picked up the assists.

Senior Bo Pieper (Roseville, MN/Canmore Eagles) added an insurance tally at 16:24 of the final frame, lifting a rebound over Marshall after he went down to stop a shot by MacMaster. Freshman Odeen Tufto (Chaska, MN/Sioux City Musketeers) earned the secondary assist.

Petruzzelli (3-4-2) made 21 saves to earn the win, while Marshall had 32 stops at the other end of the ice. Quinnipiac finished 3 for 7 on the power play, with RPI going 1 for 3.

The Engineers are back in action next weekend, when they host No. 3 Cornell University and Colgate University on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (7pm), respectively. Saturday's contest against the Raiders in the 41st Annual Big Red Freakout!
