GAMEDAY (Feb. 3, 2018): The Engineers (11-9; 6-7 Liberty League) extended their home winning streak to four games last night and try to make it five when Ithaca (12-7; 7-5) visits East Campus Arena on Senior Day.
STANDINGS: Rensselaer is in a three-way tie for fourth place with six wins, while Ithaca is tied for second with seven ... Hobart has clinched first place with 11 victories ... The top six teams qualify for the Liberty League post-season.
LAST NIGHT: Juniors
Andreas Kontopidis and
Tom Horvat combined for 42 points and the RPI defense held Union to just 39.3% shooting in a 72-66 win ... Kontopidis scored 22 points and Horvat had 20.
CLIMBING THE LADDER: With 20 points on Friday, junior guard
Tom Horvat has now scored 1,062 in his career ... He is 37 points from 10th, a spot currently held by Tom Schneider '06 (1,099) ... Tom Ronan '92 is the all-time leading scorer (1,724).
ITHACA LAST NIGHT: Ithaca suffered its third straight loss, falling at Skidmore, 80-59 ... Sophomore Sebastian Alderete led the Bombers with 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the floor to go along with six rebounds ... Riley Thompson and Matt Flood each added nine points on a combined five made 3-pointers.

Marcus Giese registered a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, but it was not enough to help RPI overcome a 14-point halftime deficit as the Engineers fell at Ithaca, 75-69 ... Riley Thompson had 24 points for the Bombers, who also got double-digits from Bryan Karl (11) and Peter Ezema (10) ... Marc Chasin registered 10 assists.
