AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The pitchers combined to lead the Beloit College baseball team to a 6-0 shutout victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Tuesday morning at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. With the win, the Buccaneers improve to 3-3, while the Engineers drop to 2-4.
David Harrison (1-2) worked the opening 6.0 innings, allowing three hits and a walk, with five strikeouts. David Hlawek then surrendered one hit over 2.0 innings, before Keith Haina recorded two strikeouts and a walk in the ninth.
RPI starter
Patrick McMackin (0-2) gave up five runs on three hits over 2.2 innings, striking out two and walking three.
Nick Pacifico then pitched 3.1 shutout frames, allowing four hits and a walk.
Ryan Yerby allowed only a hit and struck out four over the next 2.0 innings, with
Kyle LaMantia allowed a run in the top of the ninth.
Beloit scored two runs in the first, beginning with a double-steal with runners and first and third. Brice Call wound up scampering home on the play for a 1-0 lead. Ethan Conley then rolled a groundout to second to score the second run.
In the Buccaneers' third, Terrance Cribbs drove in a run with a fielder's choice groundout, before a balk brought home the second run of the frame. An RBI-single from Bronson Balholm made it 5-0, as Cribbs came across to score.
Jalen Davis stole third in the top of the ninth and came home on a throwing error to cap the scoring.

Eric Zeppa and Christian Spaguola each went 1 for 3 to lead the Engineers offensively, while Hudson Lively went 1 for 2.
Beloit was paced by Dutton, who went 2 for 5 with two runs and Jalen Davis, who was 1 for 5 with two runs.
RPI is back on the diamond tomorrow night, when it takes on Fairleigh-Dickinson Univeristy-Florham at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex (5:30pm). Beloit faces Curry College at Chain O' Lakes on Thursday (1pm).
