COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Juniors
Michelle Bolger and
Maddy Aslansan combined for 10 points to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team to a 17-7 victory over Mount Holyoke College on Wednesday afternoon at College College. With the win, the Engineers improve to 2-1-1, while the Lyons drop to 1-4.
Morgan McNamara scored off the opening draw to give Mount Holyoke a 1-0 lead just 36 seconds in, but RPI came back with a 4-0 run and never trailed the rest of the way. The Lyons lead lasted all of 12 seconds, as Aslansan buried her first of two goals on the day.

Abbey Salvon extended the advantage to 4-1.
Mount Holyoke came back with two goals over the next 2:21 to draw within 4-3, as Kelly Hammond and Leila Kouakou, who assisted on the team's opening goal, picked up markers.
Another RPI scoring run, which included goals from Salvon, sophomore
Nicole Zimmer and Bolger, made it a 7-3 game with 12:08 remaining in the opening half. Aslansan assisted on two of three.
Hammond potted her second of the game to make it 7-4, but the Engineers closed out the half on a 5-0 run for a 12-4 halftime advantage. Bolger led the way during the late run, netting a pair of goals and assisting on another.
After Aslansan made it 13-4 just 58 seconds into the second half, a 3-0 Lyons spurt cut their deficit to 13-7. Julianna Rankin, Deycha Smith and Mazzle Meotti all picked up their first goals of the game.
Rensselaer then held Mount Holyoke scoreless over the final 26 minutes, adding a quartet of insurance tallies along the way. Bolger notched her fourth of the game and seventh of the season, while Henn added her second of the day.
Aleena Milinski (2-1-1) earned the win in goal, saving two over the opening 30:58, while allowing four goals.
Rebecca Wilen worked the final 29:02 of the contest between the sticks, saving four and surrendering three. Mia Wysocki (1-4) finished with 10 saves.
The Engineers are back in action on Saturday morning, when they open Liberty League play against Clarkson at Renwyck Field (11am). Mount Holyoke faces Colorado College on Friday (12pm).
