The sophomore's combined no-hitter was broke up in the bottom of the seventh when the Hawks' Taylor Connor doubled down the right field line. After Bella Malvinni came in to pinch run, Cleasby and the Engineer defense retired the next two batters to force extra innings.

After an international tie breaker rule placed sophomore Steph Cavallaro on second to start the top of the eighth, senior Rebecca Kienz hit a bunt single followed by a stolen base to put runner on third and second. Sophomore Veronica DeStefano then hit a two-RBI, single through the left side to put RPI up 2-0. The next at bat, DeStefano was moved to second curtesy a sacrifice bunt from Greco. The sophomore then scored Rensselaer's third run off an RBI from Caswell. During the following at bat, Caswell made the score 4-0 off a Christine White triple down the right field line. White scored RPI's final run of the game when senior Kacie Herity singled down the left field line.

Murray (1-1) picked up the 5-0 loss with a three strikeout effort. Cleasby recorded five strikeouts while holding her 24 batters faced to one hit.
