GAMEDAY (March 3, 2018): The Engineers (0-1; 0-0 Liberty League) play their first regular season home game when they welcome Montclair St. (1-1; 0-0 NJAC) to East Campus Stadium (1pm).
TIME CHANGE: The game's start time was moved back to 4pm because the Capital Region was battered by Friday's nor'easter which left numerous inches of snow on the ground at ECAV Stadium.
GAME 2: Rensselaer opened the season last Saturday at Keene St., where they dropped the contest, 18-11.
FEBRUARY 24: Keene St. scored six goals in the second quarter and seven in the fourth and the Owls defeated Rensselaer, 18-11 ... Five players had multiple goals for Keene, led by Connor Nolan and Paul Beling, both of whom had four ... They both also had one assist ... Mathew Howe made 17 saves in the victory ...
Zach Lukas finished with five goals and an assist, while
Cliff Kigar scored twice for RPI ...

JT Kelly had two helpers ...
Parker Smith started in goal and took the loss for the Engineers, who were 1 for 10 on the man-up.

Zach Lukas had three goals and David Gibbs made 11 saves to lead No. 20 Rensselaer to an 8-5 win over Montclair St. ... After falling behind 2-0 in the first eight minutes, the Engineers held MSU scoreless until under seven minutes left in the third quarter ... RPI tallied five times in that span for a 5-2 advantage ... Senior Pete Adorno forced four turnovers and collected two ground balls in the game ... Lucas Jones made seven saves for the Red Hawks, while grabbing two ground balls ... Brady Wulster finished with two goals and Matt Haemmerle notched a goal and an assist with nine shots and four ground balls in defeat.
GAME CHANGE: Last season's contest between Rensselaer and Montclair was originally scheduled for March 22 but was pushed back a day due to weather.
RPI'S CAPTAINS: The 2018 Engineers are being led by senior captains
Matthew Gilman,
Oliver Kaija and
Zach Lukas ... This is the first season as a captain for Gilman and Lukas and the second for Kaija ... A midfielder, Gilman has played 44 career games, scoring 45 goals with 37 assists for 82 points ... He was All-Liberty League Second Team as a sophomore and the conference Rookie of the Year in 2015 ... Kaija is a midfielder and faceoff specialist who scored three goals with an assist while winning 52.4% (143 of 273) of his draws ... Also a captain on the football team, he led Rensselaer to an 8-3 record and a berth into the NCAA Playoffs before being named the team's Player of the Year ... An attack, Lukas is the team's top returning goal scorer after tallying 25 times as a junior ... He also had 18 assists and 43 points - both third on the team ... He was an All-Conference Second Team selection in 2017.
ROSTER BREAKDOWN: Rensselaer's roster features eight seniors, 14 juniors, seven sophomores and 15 freshmen.
TOP DISTRIBUTOR: Among the returners for RPI is junior attack
