Men's Soccer Defeated at Williams

Ephs net a pair of second half goals to clip Engineers, 2-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Freshmen Will Felitto and Henry Osborn netted second half goals to lead the Williams College men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), on Wednesday afternoon at Cole Field. With the win, the Ephs improve to 4-1-1, while the Engineers drop to 3-5-1.

Just over six minutes in, Felitto ran onto a ball on the left side of the box and ripped a shot that just went over the cross bar. Two minutes later, he served up a point-blank shot that was stuffed by RPI goalie junior Matt LaBranche.

RPI pushed back In the 12th minute, when junior Austin Betterly worked his way around an Ephs back and made it to the end line, but his cross was knocked out of play by Liam Bardong. Just15 minutes later junior Dylan Confair headed a looping cross over the top of the goal.

After a fairly uneventful first half, the action started to flow more quickly in the second. Rensselaer freshman forward Billy Chissoe found sophomore midfielder Michael Harten, who in turn delivered a cross-field ball to junior midfielder Matt Menendez, but his back post service was put just wide by Betterly.

In the 55th minute, Chris Fleischer worked his way down the right side of the pitch until he stood parallel with the goal, turned inside, and passed to a streaking Felitto, who poked the ball in for his first career goal.

Williams doubled the score in the 83rd minute, when Bobby Fabricant sprinted down the left side, drawing LaBranche out of his goal. Fabricant then played a through ball to Jules Oberg, who back-heeled the ball to Henry Osborn for his first Ephs tally.

RPI's Matt LaBranche recorded two saves on the day, while Williams netminder Aaron Schein had one.
