NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior goaltender Lovisa Selander made 48 saves to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team to a 1-1 tie with Yale University, on Friday night at Ingalls Rink. With the draw, the Engineers move to 9-10-5 overall (6-5-1 ECAC Hockey), while the Bulldogs are now 5-14-1 (4-8-1 ECAC Hockey).

Selander's big night moves her into second place on the NCAA's all-time saves list, passing Shari Vogt, a 2004 graduate of Minnesota State and Brittni Mowat of Bemidji State, who graduated in 2017. Selander now has 3,621 stops in her career, which is 188 shy of the record, which is held by Brianne McLaughlin, a 2009 grad of Robert Morris.

RPI took an early 1-0 lead on senior Jaimie Grigsby's fifth goal of the season. A shot from the point by junior Kendra Farole was redirected home for the tally. Fellow junior Sabrina Repaci also picked up an assist on the play. 

The hosts drew even at 16:43 of the first, thanks to Rebecca Vanstone's 11th goal of the year. Collecting a pass at the top of the crease, she lifted a shot over Selander from close range. The power play maker drew assists from Claire Dalton and Charlotte Welch.

Yale outshot the Engineers 12-7 in the second and 17-7 in the third, but could not find a way past Selander. RPI did finished with a 3-0 edge in overtime shots, but they were kept out by Tera Hofmann, who had 19 saves on the night.

Rensselaer is back in action tomorrow afternoon, when it visits Brown (3pm). Yale hosts Union tomorrow (3pm).
