RPI LAST NIGHT: Edvinas Rupkus made a free throw with no time remaining in regulation to give Skidmore a 70-69 victory ... Rupkus was put on the foul line after the final horn because he was fouled on an attempted put-back ... The play began under RPI's basket after Andreas Kontopidis drove the lane and made a layup to knot the score ... The senior's points capped a 6-0 run by the Engineers, who trailed 69-63 with 40 seconds to play ... Rupkus finished with a game-high 21 points, along with seven rebounds ... Patrick Mahoney led the Engineers with 16 points, along with six rebounds, and Kontopidis scored 15 points with a team-high seven rebounds ... Tom Horvat had 12 points for RPI, which held a 33-28 lead at halftime.

RIT LAST NIGHT: RIT returned to Liberty League action with a 71-62 loss at Hobart ... The Statesmen broke open a close game with an 11-0 run over a 4:09 span in the second half to secure the win ... Will Atkinson led the Tigers with 14 points, including 11 points in the second half ... Chuck Okehie tallied 10 points, while Matt Anderson chipped in eight points off the bench ... Jaymee Rosser grabbed seven rebounds and handed out five assists.

JANUARY 6, 2018: RIT outscored Rensselaer 12-7 in overtime and defeated the Engineers, 78-73 ... The Tigers shot 39.7 percent from the floor on 25-of-63 shooting with Troy Pierre-Louis leading the Tigers with 26 points and five assists ... Anthony Lewis tallied 11 points, while Robert Aguilera scored eight points with 13 rebounds and had five blocks ... Andreas Kontopidis led Rensselaer with 23 points and five rebounds ... Tom Horvat added 21 points, while Kevin Davis chipped in eight points and eight rebounds for the Engineers, who shot 37.3 percent for the game.

JANUARY 26, 2018: Three Engineers hit double-digit points as Rensselaer upended RIT, 67-49 ... Junior guard Tom Horvat scored a game-high 17 points with two steals, while classmates Andreas Kontopidis and Marcus Giese finished with 12 points apiece ... Giese added six boards, while Kontopidis had a game-high five assists ... RIT was led by Troy Pierre-Louis, with 14 points, and Robert Aguilera, who finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.

1,000 POINT CLUB: Rensselaer senior Andreas Kontopidis reached 1,000 career points with a three-pointer at St. Lawrence in early December ... He is the 15th player in school history to reach that milestone and currently ranks 13th all-time.

CLIMBING THE LADDER: There are two active student-athletes in Rensselaer's 1,000 point club in Tom Horvat and Andreas Kontopidis ... A guard, Horvat has 1,327 points, which is fifth in school history ... He is 32 points from tying Paris Moore '05 for fourth ... Kontopidis, a forward, is 12th with 1,042 points, which is 57 in back of Tom Schneider '06 for 11th ... Tom Ronan '92 is Rensselaer's all-time leading scorer with 1,724 points.
