No. 13 Men's Soccer Draws at Skidmore, 1-1

Engineers push unbeaten streak to school-record 11 games (10-0-1)

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Senior Dylan Confair scored a late equalizer to help the 13th-ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team to a 1-1 draw at Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field. With the tie, the Engineers extend their unbeaten streak to a school record 11 games and are now 11-1-1 overall (3-0-1 Liberty League). The Thoroughbreds push their record to 5-4-3 overall (1-3-1 Liberty League).

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, David Braman scored Skidmore's only goal in 84th minute. Connor Aitken had an initial chance off a corner that was blocked. Braman then picked up the rebound right in front of goal and drilled it into the back of the net.

RPI quickly drew even in the 87th minute, when Confair finished first time from just inside box off of an assist by Josh Gaudiano. The ball was fired to the lower right corner and slid just out of the reach of a diving Sebastian Bosch.

Neither side was able to break the deadlock during the extra 20 minutes of play and each shared the points on the day.

Braman and Ted Roach led the team with two shots on goal each. Meanwhile, goalie Sebastian Bosch finished the day off with four saves. Gaudiano led the RPI with two shots on goal, while goalie Luke Brezak tallied six saves in the net for the Engineers. Skidmore led with seven shots on goal and a total of 14 shots for the game, but RPI far outnumbered Skidmore with a total of 10 corners.

RPI is back in action next weekend, when it hosts Hobart and RIT for Family Weekend on Friday (4pm) and Saturday (2pm), respectively. Skidmore is back at Wachenheim Field on Friday against RIT.
