PRINCETON, N.J - Senior captain Lovisa Selander made 57 saves to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team to a 2-1 victory over fifth-ranked Princeton University, on Saturday afternoon at Hobey Baker Rink. With the win, the Engineers clinch berth in the ECAC Hockey Tournament, improving to 13-14-5 overall (10-9-1 ECAC Hockey). The loss sends the Tigers to an 18-4-5 mark (15-2-3 ECAC Hockey).

RPI opened the scoring at 7:59 of the opening frame, when freshman Lilli Friis-Hansen finished off a breakaway chance for her second goal of the season. Picking up the puck at her own blue line, she skated up ice, before making a toe-drag around a back-checking Tigers defenseman and slotting home a shot five-hole on Princeton goaltender Rachel McQuigge. 

The Tigers pulled even late in the first on Carly Bullock's 18th goal fo the season. Moving in from the right wing boards, she ripped a shot into the top right corner of the net, evening things at 1-1 at 17:42. Assists went to Annie McDonald and Karlie Lund.

Freshman Ailyah Lance netted the eventual game-winning goal at 12:07 of the second, snapping home her first collegiate goal from the middle of the slot. Sophomore Aimee Raithby worked her way behind the Princeton goal, before sending a pass to Lance for the tally.

Princeton picked up its shooting pace in the third, registering a game-high 21 attempts in the period, but Selander (11-13-5) stopped them all. She also had 18 saves in each of the first two periods. McQuigge (10-4-4) had 20 stops for the contest, at the other end of the ice.

The Engineers return to action next weekend, when they close out their regular schedule at the Houston Field House against nationally-ranked Cornell and Colgate on Friday (6pm) and Saturday (3pm). Princeton visits Clarkson and St. Lawrence next weekend.
