GAMEDAY (Feb. 9, 2019): RPI bounced back from a tough first half on Friday to defeat Bard and improve to 12-10 overall and 7-8 in the league ... Vassar won at RIT and is now 10-12 and 6-9.

STANDINGS: Rensselaer currently sits in the sixth and final playoff spot, just one game in front of Vassar ... Bard (8-7) is one game ahead of the Engineers with eight wins.

RPI ON FRIDAY: RPI used an 18-0 run and 64.5% shooting in the second half to come from behind and defeat Bard, 84-77 ... RPI connected on 20 of 31 shots in the second half, including 7 of 9 from behind the arc, after making just 10 of its 29 shots (34.5%) in the first 20 minutes ... Andreas Kontopidis led all scorers with 23 points while pulling down six rebounds with three assists ... Tom Horvat scored 16 points, Patrick Mahoney had 13 with nine rebounds and Marcus Giese tallied 10 points ... Alijah Rue finished with 18 points for the Raptors.

IN SCHOOL HISTORY: Rensselaer senior Tom Horvat has scored 1,514 career points and ranks second in school history ... Classmate Andreas Kontopidis has 1,188 career points, which is eighth all-time ... Jared Hite '04 is now ninth with 1,180 and Rob Helmer '89 is seventh with 1,227 ... Tom Ronan '92 is first in program history with 1,724 points.

THE DAY AFTER: RPI is 3-4 on the second day when playing two games in two days, including 2-4 in conference play ... Vassar is 4-4 on second days (3-3 in league).

VASSAR ON FRIDAY: Vassar's Zach Bromfeld tipped home a shot at the buzzer that gave the Brewers a 75-73 win at RIT ... The Brewers outscored the Tigers 12-2 in the final five minutes to secure the win ... Bromfeld tied the score at 73-73 on a layup with 44 seconds to play ... RIT had the ball in the final seconds, but turned it over ... Alex Seff missed a jumper with time running out, but Bromfeld got to the loose ball and tipped it home as the buzzer sounded ... Lance Tebay led Vassar with a game-high 22 points ... Seff finished with 16 points and five rebounds, while Bromfeld chipped in 16 points off the bench.

IN 2017-18: The Engineers lost to the Brewers on January 12, 2018, in Troy (69-66) and on February 10, 2018, in Poughkeepsie (72-60).

IN 2016-17: Rensselaer won both games with Vassar two seasons ago, 69-58, on January 17 in Troy and 73-53 on February 17 at VC.

THIS SEASON: RPI scored 17 of the final 19 points of the first half and the Engineers defeated Vassar 71-60 on January 11 ... Rensselaer saw Patrick Mahoney, Tom Horvat and Dom Black register 14 points apiece ... Mahoney also grabbed eight rebounds, while Black distributed five assists ... Paul Grinde paced Vassar with 14 points, while Zach Bromfeld tallied 10 points off the bench ... The Brewers shot 47.8 percent (22 of 46) from the field.
