SECOND IN THREE: Rensselaer is playing its second game in three days after defeating Coast Guard 12-11 on the road on Thursday ... That game was originally scheduled to be played Wednesday but was moved due to the weather.

Owen Putman had two goals and four assists and six of his teammates also had multiple points as RPI took down the Bears, 12-11 ... The game was tight throughout with Rensselaer taking its final lead with three straight goals in the fourth quarter, 12-10 ...

TEAM STATS: The Engineers had 30 more shots (59-29) and 15 more ground balls (43-28) than the Owls, who could manage just seven clears in 20 attempts ... RPI was 18 of 20 on its clearing attempts.

Owen Putman and
Cooper Urban were selected for weekly awards by the Liberty League for their efforts against Keene State ... Putman was named Offensive Performer of the Week, while Urban garnered Rookie of the Week following RPI's 15-6 victory ... Putman scored three goals with three assists for six points ... Two of his goals were man-up and each of his assists came even strength ... He had a game-high 15 shots with six on goal and a team-high six ground balls ... Urban had a game-high four goals with two assists ... His first two goals gave the Engineers a 2-0 lead and his first assist put RPI ahead 5-1 early in the second quarter ... He added eight shots (6 on goal) and four ground balls.
MIT'S FIRST GAME: Lasell scored five goals in the fourth quarter to overcome an 8-7 deficit in defeating MIT 12-10 in Newton ... The teams came out of the first quarter tied at 4-4 before the Engineers scored three times in the second for a 7-4 lead ... Lasell had a 3-1 edge in the third before going on a 5-0 run in the fourth (7-0 overall) ... MIT's Jack Strachan ended the game with a career-high five goals and one assist ... Connor Kaminska made 11 saves in the loss.
TEAM STATS: The Engineers were 13 for 16 in clear attempts, while Lasell converted 22 of 26 clear chances ... MIT also held a 39-22 edge in ground balls and outshot the Lasers 45-32.

RPI IN 2018: Last season, Rensselaer had a 12-4 overall record with a 6-2 conference mark ... The Engineers played in the Liberty League Tournament semifinals, losing in double overtime ... THREE OF FOUR: Rensselaer returns three of its top four point producers in
Cliff Kigar (35 goals, 19 assists),
JT Kelly (20 goals, 29 assists) and
Lucas Bastarache (15 goals, 17 assists) ... Kigar was first on the team in goals and points (54), Kelly was first in assists (29) and third in points (49) and Bastarache was fourth in points (32) ... All three are seniors.
ROSTER BREAKDOWN: RPI has a 51-man roster that features 11 seniors, seven juniors, 15 sophomore and 18 freshmen.
2019 CAPTAINS: The Engineers will be led on the field by seniors

JP McGrady ... Bastarache has been named the captain with Kelly and McGrady serving as assistant captains ... Bastarache and Kelly have both played 45 career games, while McGrady has seen action in 31 contests in his first three seasons.

Lucas Bastarache and
Quinn Fettig are among those recognized by Inside Lacrosse as Division III Preseason All-Americans ... Ackermann, a defenseman, was selected to the Third Team, while Bastarache, a midfielder, and Fettig a defenseman, garnered Honorable Mention recognition ... All three are seniors.
NEW STAFF: The Engineers have a new coaching staff, led by
Scott Hackett-Dalgliesh, an 11-year coaching veteran who joins Rensselaer from Dartmouth College, where he was an assistant from 2015-18 ... Among his stops prior to working with the Big Green was as head coach of Division III Marywood University from 2012 to 2014 ... Hackett-Dalgliesh is being assisted by

PRESEASON POLL: In a vote by the league's head coaches, RIT received eight first-place votes for 64 points to rank first in the 2019 Liberty League Preseason Poll ... Ithaca was second with 53 points and a first-place vote ... Rensselaer and St. Lawrence tied for third with 47 points apiece ...
