Men's Lacrosse Hosts Williams on Wednesday

GAMEDAY (March 20, 2019): The Engineers put their six-game winning streak on the line in their final non-league game of the regular season when they host Williams College on Wednesday evening at East Campus Stadium (6 p.m.).

ALL-TIME VS. WILLIAMS: The Engineers are 5-11 all-time against the Ephs.

LAST MEETING: Breanainn McNeally scored four goals and David Gibbs stopped 14 shots to lead RPI to an 11-9 victory over Williams ... McNeally had four goals and an assist with Matthew Gilman and Owen Putman scoring two goals apiece ... The Ephs were led by Kevin Stump with three goals followed by Brendan Hoffman with two ... Gibbs finished with at least three saves in every quarter for his 14 ... George Peele made 11 stops for Williams.

STREAKING: RPI enters the game having won its first six games ... The last time the Engineers were 6-0 was in 2012 when they started 7-0 ... Rensselaer finished 10-5 that season.

BUSY STRETCH: The Engineers are in the midst of playing two games per week - Wednesdays & Saturdays - in a three-week span ... The next Wednesday when RPI does not play is April 3.

LEAGUE SLATE: Saturday marks the first Liberty League game for No. 15 Rensselaer, which travels to No. 19 Ithaca (1pm).

TOUGH CONFERENCE: Four teams in the Liberty League are ranked in the USILA Week 6 Poll, led by No. 4 RIT ... RPI is No. 15, followed by Ithaca at No. 19 and St. Lawrence at No. 20 ... Two other schools, Clarkson and Union, are among those receiving votes.

RV FOR WILLIAMS: The Ephs, who have beaten Trinity (18-12), Union (12-11) and Conn. College (18-9) after a loss at Wesleyan (14-12), are among the schools receiving votes in the latest USILA Poll.

RPI LAST TIME OUT: Cooper Urban scored five goals with two assists and JT Kelly had two goals with five assists to lead Rensselaer to a 16-11 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University at Marywood University ... Urban scored four of his goals during a 9-2 run in the third and fourth quarters that erased an 8-7 deficit and put RPI ahead 16-10 with just over a minute to play ... Brian Doughty made nine saves with five goals allowed in 39:44 and Kyle Botsford stopped seven shots in 20:16 for the Engineers ... Joey Sichenzia had 11 saves on the other end of the field.

WEEKLY AWARDS: RPI's JT Kelly and Cooper Urban were selected by the Liberty League for weekly men's lacrosse awards, earning Offensive Performer of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively ... Senior Keaton Ackermann was chosen to the Weekly Honor Roll.

THIRD FOR URBAN: Rensselaer freshman Cooper Urban has been chosen as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week three times this season (Feb. 25, Mar. 4 & Mar. 18) ... He leads the team in goals with 19 and ranks second in assists with 11 and points with 30. 

WILLIAMS ON SUNDAY: Fresh off a win over previously undefeated Union on Friday evening, Williams carried that momentum to Connecticut College, downing the host Camels 18-9 ... Williams tallied the first four goals of the contest ... Cory Lund finished with eight goals and one assist and Jake Haase scored two goals and added five assists ... Alex Kitt won 12 of 18 faceoffs and Harry Gahagan stopped 10 shots in the first 51:08.
