GAMEDAY (March 9, 2019): The Engineers continue with non-league action as they welcome Babson to East Campus Stadium for a Saturday matinee (2pm).

THIRD MEETING: This is the third time Rensselaer has faced the Beavers with the other two coming in each of the past two seasons ... RPI won those games.

MARCH 10, 2018: Rensselaer scored the first six goals of the game - by six different student-athletes - and the Engineers defeated Babson 8-4 at MacDowell Field ... Cliff Kigar led all players in scoring with two goals and three assists, while Owen Putman added a goal and an assist ... Parker Smith turned away 13 shots and Zach Lima posted a game-high three caused turnovers ... Christopher Aranalde recorded 10 saves in the loss for the Beavers, who were held scoreless until early in the third quarter.

ARPIL 12, 2017: Rensselaer held a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and the Engineers never relinquished the advantage on their way to defeating Babson 13-7 ... Owen Putman led all scorers with six points (3 goals), while Zach Lukas had four goals and an assist ... JT Kelly had a goal and two assists ... David Gibbs finished with five saves for the Engineers ... Niall Dillon had four goals for the Beavers, who got single goals from three others ... Christopher Aranalde made 13 saves in the first 45 minutes and Jordan Shapiro had three stops in the fourth quarter.

STREAKING: RPI enters the game having won its first three games, two of which have been at East Campus Stadium. 

NATIONALLY-RANKED: After being among those receiving votes in the first four USILA / Warrior and New Balance Coaches Poll, the Engineers have entered the top 20 in Division III, according to the latest listing ... Rensselaer is ranked 18th with 48 points ... It is 18 points from 17th-ranked Lynchburg and six points ahead of 19th-ranked Stevenson ... Wesleyan is the top-ranked team with 425 points.

TEAM STATS: Rensselaer has a 14.33 to 7.66 goals per game differential ... It also lead its opponents in ground balls (105-89), caused turnovers (29-18), clear percentage (.848-.552) and save percentage (.596-.427).

ON OFFENSE: Senior attack JT Kelly is first on the Engineers in assists with nine and points with 16 ... Two of his seven goals have come man-up ... Junior attack Owen Putman is second or tied for second in goals (7, tied), assists (7) and points (14, tied), while ranking first in shots with 30 ... Freshman attack Cooper Urban is the team's leading goal scorer with nine goals, along with five assists for 14 points.

DEFENSIVELY: Seniors Keaton Ackermann and Quinn Fettig lead the RPI defense, combining for 11 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers ... Ackermann is first in caused turnovers (7) and Fettig is tied for second with eight ground balls ... Tyler Hancock, a sophomore who has won 28 of 56 faceoffs (50%), has 15 ground balls.

IN GOAL: Brian Doughty, a sophomore, and Kyle Botsford, a freshman, have played the majority of time in goal ... Doughty is 2-0 with a 5.33 goals against average and a .579 save percentage ... Botsford is 1-0 with a 10.20 average and a .600 save percentage. 

LAST SATURDAY: Cooper Urban scored five times and JT Kelly set up six goals with a goal of his own to lead RPI to a 16-6 victory over MIT in Troy ... Rensselaer held a 9-0 lead at halftime and eventually increased its advantage to 12 goals (13-1) with 3:49 to play in the third quarter ... Cliff Kigar added three goals for RPI, which put 12 players on the scoresheet.

HONORED: Freshman Cooper Urban was the Liberty League Rookie of the Week after his performances against Coast Guard and MIT last week (5 goals, 3 assists) ... Classmate Kyle Botsford was picked for the Weekly Honor Roll (15 saves). 

BABSON TO DATE: The Beavers, under first-year head coach Rocky Batty, opened the season with an 11-2 win at Roger Williams ... They then won their home opener, 15-9 to Skidmore, before losing in overtime to Bates, 10-9 ... Babson was in the Capital Region last Saturday when it played at Union, where it lost 17-5.

TEAM STATS: The Beavers have averaged 10.00 goals per game, while allowing 9.70 ... They have 116 ground balls, compared to 150 for the opposition ... Babson has 27 caused turnovers and an .897 (78-87) clear percentage.
