No. 16 Men's Lacrosse Home to Clarkson on Sat.

GAMEDAY (April 20, 2019): The final home game of the regular season for the No. 16 Engineers is a conference contest against Clarkson at East Campus Stadium (2pm).

THE STANDINGS: RPI stands at 4-2 in the Liberty League (10-3 overall) and in a tie with St. Lawrence (11-2) for third place ... Clarkson (3-3; 8-5) is currently in sixth place, one win behind Ithaca (4-3; 7-5).

POST-SEASON BERTHS: The six teams for the Liberty League Tournament have been solidified, though the order is still to be determined.

UPCOMING: Rensselaer and Clarkson conclude the regular season on Wednesday when they play at St. Lawrence (4pm) and against Ithaca (4pm), respectively.

LEAGUE TOURNAMENT: The top two teams in the conference tournament, RIT and Union, have earned a bye into the semifinals and will host games on May 1 ... The opening round pits the No. 6 seed at the No. 3 seed and the No. 5 seed at the No. 4 seed ... Those games are scheduled for April 27 ... The semifinals are the following Wednesday and the championship game is May 4.

ALL-TIME VS. CLARKSON: The Engineers are 31-24 all-time against the Golden Knights with a home mark of 18-9 and conference record of 29-23.

RECENTLY: Rensselaer and Clarkson have alternated wins in the last six meetings.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE?: The last time the Engineers or Golden Knights won a home game against one another was in 2012 when Clarkson posted an 10-4 victory ... Both teams are 0-3 at home since.

ECAV STADIUM: Rensselaer beat the Knights in its first season at East Campus Stadium (8-2 in 2010), but lost in 2013 (8-7), 2015 (11-9) and 2017 (15-11).

CLOSE GAMES: The last six games between RPI and Clarkson have been decided by a total of 15 goals ... Three of the games have been decided by one goal and another by two.   

LAST 10: Rensselaer is 4-6 in its last 10 games with Clarkson, including 1-3 in Troy.

LAST SEASON: Cliff Kigar tied the game with 1:30 remaining in the fourth quarter and then tallied the game-winner with 33 seconds left as RPI defeated Clarkson 12-11 ... The Golden Knights held an 11-9 lead with just over four minutes to play, but RPI rattled off the last three goals to pull out the road win ... Kigar finished with three goals and an assist, while Zach Lukas scored once with three helpers ... Lucas Bastarache had three assists ... Brian Doughty earned the win, stopping two shots in the final 15 minutes ... RPI outshot the Knights 40-34, while Clarkson controlled the ground balls 29-21 ... Shane Kilday led Clarkson with three goals ... Sam Groves and Conor Bartlett tallied two goals apiece ... Colin Holt made 12 saves.

LAST TIME OUT: No. 15 Union scored the only five goals of the fourth quarter to defeat No. 16 Rensselaer 17-12 on Wednesday ... The game was tight throughout with neither team getting ahead by more than two goals until Union led 11-8 with 9:25 remaining in the third quarter ... RPI battled back to tie the score at 11-11 and again at 12-12 ... Rensselaer was led by Lucas Bastarache, who had two goals and two assists with a team-high seven ground balls ... Will Hatcher and Will Killeen scored twice each and Nicki Phelps had six ground balls.

CLARKSON LAST TIME OUT: A six-goal third quarter tied the game through 45 minutes and Clarkson never trailed again as the Golden Knights completed a come-from-behind effort with a 13-12 win over Vassar College last Saturday ... Vassar held advantages in shots (50-36), shots on goal (27-21) ground balls (36-29) and faceoffs (22-7) ... Pierce Currie finished with four goals and five ground balls and Conor Bartlett notched four points with two goals and a pair of assists for Clarkson ... Marcus Lavarnway picked up three points with two goals and one helper ... Thomas Stanton had four caused turnovers and four ground balls and Kevin Dyckman made 15 saves in the Clarkson crease.
