TROY, N.Y. – Junior
Jaime Cleasby threw a pair of complete games to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Union College, on Sunday afternoon at Doris Robison Field. With wins of 2-0 and 6-1, the Engineers improve to 22-8 overall (6-4 Liberty League), while the Dutchwomen drop to 11-16 (4-6 Liberty League).
Cleasby (Windham, NH/Windham) hurled a one-hit shutout in game one, surrendering a lone infield single in the second inning and issuing a pair of walks, while striking out five. Her counterpart, sophomore Makayla Koehler (Brewster, NY/Brewster) took the loss, giving up two runs (1 earned) on six hits over 7.0 innings.

Junior
Allie Hunt (Pittsfield, MA/Pittsfield) doubled the hosts' advantage in the third, singling home freshman
Jessica Torch (Boonton Township, NJ/Mountain Lakes) after she reached on an infield hit and stole second.
Cleasby allowed just one baserunner over the final four innings to hold on for the win. She finished with 95 pitches.
In Game 2, the Engineers jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in each of the first two innings. After a stolen base and an error scored the game's first run, Hunt brought home Torch with a squeeze bunt to make it 2-0. Another Union miscue brought home another for the home side.

Cam Caswell (Prospect, CT/Woodland Regional) knocked in RPI's sixth run with a base hit to right.
Union scratched a run across in the top of the third on a Cleasby wild pitch that allowed Julissa Malana (Elk Grove, CA/Sheldon) to come home from third.
After a scoreless fourth, junior
Veronica DeStefano (Emerson, NJ/Emerson) doubled home the game's final two runs in the fifth, plating Anderson and freshman
Ryleigh Greenwald (Picataway, NJ/Bishop George Ahr).
Cleasby (6-3) worked all 7.0 innings, giving up a run on four his. She struck out two and walked one. Dana Dolinko (Wilmette, IL/Lacey Township) was saddled with the loss, allowing six runs (3 earned) on five hits in 2.0 innings.
The Engineers are back in action on Friday, when they host Ithaca College (3pm). Union hosts Oneonta for two on Tuesday (3:30pm).
