Rensselaer seniors Will Reilly (7 goals, 8 assists) and Chase Zieky (6 goals, 9 assists) are tops in the team with 15 points apiece ... Classmates Patrick Polino (7 goals, 5 assists) and Mike Gornall (4 goals, 8 assists) have 14 and 12 points, respectively, while fellow senior Jake Marrello (4 goals, 6 assists) and freshman Simon Kjellberg (4 goals, 6 assists) each have 10 each.

GOALTENDING
Sophomore Owen Savory (6-7-1) has a 2.56 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 14 starts, while junior Linden Marshall (3-3-0) has a 2.91 goals against average and a .903 save percentage in seven games (6 starts) ... Classmate Alec Calvaruso (1-2-0) has a 2.61 goals against average and a .909 save percentage in four games (3 starts).

ALL-TIME VS. UNION
RPI owns a 54-41-11 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to February 26, 1904 – a 6-2 victory for the Engineers in Albany ... The 115-year history has been highlighted by a number of streaks, including early RPI winning runs of nine and eight games ... The Dutchmen put together a seven-game unbeaten streak (5-0-2) from 2004 to 2007, before beating the Engineers in 10 straight – the long unbeaten in series history – from 2011 to 2013 ... After ending the dry spell, RPI quickly ran off wins in 6 of 7, before Union swept the three-game season series over the last two seasons.

AT THE MAYOR'S CUP

The Engineers opened ECAC Hockey play by sweeping then-11th-ranked Union in a home-and-home series ... RPI was victorious, 5-3, at the Houston Field House on October 26, before downing the Dutchmen, 4-2, in Schenectady he following night ... Junior Jacob Hayhurst recorded three assists in each game, while sophomore Donovan Ott (2 goals, 1 assist) and senior Brady Wiffen (1 goal, 2 assists) had three points apiece in the two contests ... Sophomore goaltender Linden Marshall stopped 68 of 73 shots, including 24 of 25 while the Engineers were shorthanded ... In the seventh playing of the Mayor's Cup on January 29, RPI and Union played to a 0-0 tie, with Owen Savory recording his first collegiate shutout on 43 saves ... Darion Hanson had 20 stops at the other end ... The Dutchmen won the shootout for the unofficial win and rights to the trophy.

SWEEPS THE WORD
Prior to this season, the last time RPI and Union split a weekend ECAC Hockey series was November 12 and 13 of 2010 ... The Dutchmen won in Schenectady, 2-1, while the Engineers were victorious in Troy, 4-3 in overtime, the following night.

SCOUTING THE DUTCHMEN
Union is off to an 0-6-0 start, including losses to nationally-ranked Northeastern (x2) and UMass (x2) ... Senior Anthony Rinaldi (1 goal, 2 assists) leads the way offensively with three points, while four others have two points, including junior Sean Harrison (2 goals) and sophomore Sam Morton (2 goals).

Junior Darion Hanson (0-6-0) has started all six games for the Dutchmen so far this season, posting a 4.09 goals against average and an .885 save percentage ... Freshman Merek Pipes has a 15.52 goals against average and a .667 save percentage in just 3:52 of action.

Outside of last year's 0-0 tie at last year's Mayor's Cup, both teams have a scored at least one goal in the last 32 meetings and 26 of those games have seen at least five total tallies.

TURN IT UP... PAST 11
Senior Patrick Polino's seventh goal of the season gave him 12 points on the year, which set a new career high ... He recorded exactly 11 points in each of his three previous seasons.

TWO SHUTOUTS
Sophomore Owen Savory's back-to-back shutouts of St. Lawrence and Colgate are the first by an RPI netminder since he stopped all 43 shots in last year's Mayor's Cup tie with Union College. 

ALMOST THREE
Savory came just 12.8 seconds from becoming the first RPI hockey goaltender to record three consecutive shutouts, when he surrendered Brown's only goal in the third period on January 18. 

EMPTY NET DOUBLE
The Engineers netted empty net goals in back-to-back games on January 3 and 4 for the first time since Freakout! Weekend in 2011 ... RPI beat Brown 3-0 and then-No. 1 Yale, 5-2, on in the Big Red Freakout!

SOPHOMORE FEAT
Owen Savory became just the sixth RPI goaltender to register three shutouts before the end of his second season on the team, joining Nathan Marsters (5), Bill Sack (4), Jason Kasdorf (4), Daren Puppa (3) and John Stopen (3).

SAVORY TIMES TWO
Owen Savory collected his second straight ECAC Hockey/MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week award after stopping all 37 shots he faced in a 3-0 shutout of Colgate on January 11.

BACK-TO-BACK
Savory is the seventh RPI goaltender in program history to notch two straight shutouts, joining Bob Fox (1954 & 1955), Bill Sack (1964), Joel Laing (1999, 2000 twice), Kevin Kirk (2002), Nathan Marsters (2004) and Jason Kasdorf (2013).

SAVORY PICKED BY LEAGUE
ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly award winners and sophomore Owen Savory has been named MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week for January 6 ...He posted a 25-save shutout of St. Lawrence University in his only start last week ... On Saturday against the Saints, he recorded six saves in the first period, eight in the second and 11 in the third to pick up his fourth win the season. Stopping a handful of breakaway in the first two periods, he helped the Engineers go 3 for 3 killing penalties on the night.
