GAMEDAY (Jan. 10, 2020): The Engineers (8-2; 3-0) host league foe Union College (5-3; 2-1) in their first game of 2020.

EIGHT STRAIGHT: Rensselaer has won each of its last eight games, three of which came in Troy ... The Engineers last eight-game winning streak came in 2012-13 when they won their final seven regular season games and a Liberty League semifinals matchup at Union ... RPI finished 17-10 that season.

BACK TO LEAGUE PLAY: After playing a pair of non-league games to close out the 2019 calendar year, Rensselaer returns to Liberty League action for the first time since December 11 ... RPI only has conference matchups the rest of the season.

RIGHT BACK AT IT: The Engineers host Skidmore on Saturday at 4pm, while Union travels to RIT, also on Saturday at 4pm.

RECENTLY AGAINST UNION: Rensselaer is 3-7 in its last 10 games with the Dutchmen, though 3-2 in the last five matchups.

LAST 10 IN TROY: RPI has won four of its last 10 home meetings with Union.

LAST SEASON: For the third consecutive year, the Engineers and Dutchmen split the season series ... Both teams won on the other's home court in 2018-19.

JANUARY 22, 2019: Jackson Mannix scored 29 points on 11 of 15 shooting and Union made 54.3% of its shots in defeating Rensselaer 72-69 ... Down two points midway through the second half, the Dutchmen used a 13-2 advantage to build a 58-49 lead ... RPI battled to within 70-69 on an Andreas Kontopidis put-back with three seconds remaining, but Kevin McNoble made both ends of a 1-and-1 before an RPI three quarter court shot sailed wide ... McNoble finished with 17 points ... Kontopidis had 24 points, along with seven rebounds ... Tom Horvat finished with 14 points and four steals.

FEBRUARY 1, 2019: Andreas Kontopidis had team-highs of 14 points and seven rebounds, while Tom Horvat and Patrick Mahoney both had 11 points as RPI won 69-66 at Union ... Kontopidis put RPI ahead by eight points (61-53) with a basket from behind the arc with just under five minutes to play and Rensselaer held the lead for the rest of the contest ... The Dutchmen did pull to within two with under a minute to play, but Horvat hit from long distance for a 68-63 lead with 20 seconds remaining ... In addition to his 14 points and seven rebounds, Kontopidis also had an assist and three steals ... Marcus Giese had eight points, six rebounds and a game-high seven assists ... Mike Concannon paced Union with 18 points, along with five rebounds.

UNION TO DATE: The Dutchmen opened with four straight wins, including a pair of conference games, before dropping its next three games ... They have played three games since December 28, losing to Lycoming (64-54) and Mount Union (78-65) in Florida before beating Williams 79-69 at home on Saturday.
