Engineers face Big Red Friday, before welcome Raiders to Troy for Autism Awareness Night

NUMBER TWO COMING TO TOWN
The Engineers host second-ranked Cornell to open a home weekend on Friday night (7pm) ... The Engineers are looking for their first three-game winning streak since 2015-16.

EIGHTH AUTISM AWARENESS GAME
RPI will host its eighth Autism Awareness Game on Saturday against Colgate at the Houston Field House (7pm) ... Each year, the Engineers lower the volume on the speakers, limit flashing lights and scoreboard use to make the contest more comfortable for all fans to enjoy.

NORTH COUNTRY SWEEP
Rensselaer earned its fifth North Country sweep in program history and the first since 2012-13 last weekend, topping then-No. 4 Clarkson, 3-1, on Friday, before shutting out St. Lawrence, 3-0, on Saturday ... Freshman Tristan Ashbrook (2 goals, 1 assist) and senior captain Will Reilly (1 goal, 2 assists) paced the Engineers offensively on the weekend, while junior Linden Marshall (32 saves at Clarkson) and sophomore Owen Savory (25 saves at St. Lawrence) were rock solid between the pipes.

RPI LEADERS
Rensselaer senior Will Reilly (7 goals, 8 assists) leads the team with 15 points in 19 games ... Classmate Chase Zieky (5 goals, 9 assists) has 14 points, while fellow seniors Mike Gornall (4 goals, 8 assists) and Patrick Polino (6 goals, 5 assists) have compiled 12 and 11 points, respectively ... Another senior, Jake Marrello (4 goals, 5 assists) rounds out the top five with nine points.

GOALTENDING
Sophomore Owen Savory (4-7-1) has a 2.92 goals against average and an .896 save percentage in 12 starts, while junior Linden Marshall (3-2-0) has a 2.65 goals against average and a .909 save percentage in six games (5 starts) ... Classmate Alec Calvaruso (1-1-0) has a 2.52 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.

ALL-TIME VS. CORNELL
Rensselaer trails the all-time series with Cornell 38-63-11 … Cornell won the inaugural meeting, 4-0, on January 31, 1908, in Albany.

RECENTLY
RPI and Cornell have split the last five meetings, 2-2-1 … Rensselaer's last win over Cornell came on February 22, 2019, with a score of 3-2.

AT HOME
Rensselaer trails the series against Cornell at home 21-29-3.

LAST TIME OUT
Todd Burgess scored with 52 seconds left in overtime to send the RPI past ninth-ranked Cornell University, 3-2, at Lynah Rink on February 22, 2019.

STREAKS

FIFTH SWEEP
RPI's North Country sweep was just the fifth since the Engineers started making the annual trip to Clarkson and St. Lawrence in the 1951-52 season ... The previous four-point weekends came in 1977-78, 1984-85, 2004-05 and 2012-13.

EMPTY NET DOUBLE
The Engineers netted empty net goals in back-to-back games on January 3 and 4 for the first time since Freakout! Weekend in 2011 ... RPI beat Brown 3-0 and then-No. 1 Yale, 5-2, on in the Big Red Freakout!

SAVORY PICKED BY LEAGUE
ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly award winners and sophomore Owen Savory has been named MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week for January 6 ...He posted a 25-save shutout of St. Lawrence University in his only start last week ... On Saturday against the Saints, he recorded six saves in the first period, eight in the second and 11 in the third to pick up his fourth win the season. Stopping a handful of breakaway in the first two periods, he helped the Engineers go 3 for 3 killing penalties on the night.

MARSHALL MISSES HISTORY
On Friday at Clarkson, junior netminder Linden Marshall came just 5:28 shy of joining an elite duo of RPI netminders by shutting out Clarkson ... Only Bob Fox (February 6, 1954) and Jason Kasdorf (March 1, 2013) have kept the Golden Knights scoreless for 60 minutes.

SKID STOPPER
The Engineers ended their eight-game losing streak to Clarkson on Friday with their 3-1 victory ... The last time RPI had beaten the Golden Knights, Chase Perry made 25 saves in a 2-1 victory ... Jake Wood and Reilly Bourbonnais tallied with current seniors Will Reilly and Jake Marrello picking up assists.

SLU STREAK
RPI extended its winning streak against St. Lawrence to four games with its 3-0 shutout on January 4 ... It is the longest such streak since 2012-14 and only the fourth winning streak of four or more games in the series history.

STREAKING
Senior Mike Gornall has a career-long, four-game points streak, in which he has compiled two goals and three assists for five points ... Freshman Tristan Ashbrook has three points (2 goals, 1 assist) in the last two games and four in the last four.

ECAC HOCKEY RANKINGS
The Engineers are sixth in the league scoring, averaging 2.63 goals per game ... RPI's power play is eighth at 16.7%, while its penalty kill is second (87.1%) ... The Engineers are allowing 28.8 shots per game this season, which is good for fifth in the conference ... They gave up 33.6 shots per contest last year ... RPI is fifth in the league in face-off percentage at 51.4% after ending last season in 11th (47.2%).
