Megan Beaulieu and freshman
Ola Nawrocki both had a pair of individual wins, but they were not enough for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming & diving team to defeat Hamilton College as the Continentals secured a 159-139 victory on Saturday. Hamilton is now 5-1-1.
Beaulieu won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.55 and the 200 back in 2:10.87, while Nawrocki captured the 1000 free in 11:22.92 - a victory of almost eight seconds over the runner-up (11:30.34) - and the 500 free in 5:28.95.Â
Single winners for the Engineers included
Jessica Kugelman on the 1-meter diving board (232.55) and
Darby Burns from 3-meter (210.25) and
Kat Lopez in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.88).
Rensselaer's next action for its swimmers is the Liberty League Championship, which takes place February 19-22. The divers are scheduled to compete in the RPI Diving Invitational on February 8.
