Women's Hockey Drops Season Finale

Colgate scores five in the second period en route to 9-0 victory

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Coralie Larose and Sammy Smigliani combined for three goals and four assists to lead the Colgate University women's hockey team to a 9-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), on Saturday afternoon at Class of '65 Arena. With the win, the Raiders improve to 17-13-6 overall (11-8-3 ECAC Hockey), while the Engineers conclude their season with an 0-33-1 record (0-22-0 ECAC Hockey).

Smigliani opened the scoring at 8:43 of the first period, with Kaitlyn O'Donohoe and Sydney Bard picking up the assists. Less than a minute later, Shelby Wood made it 2-0, from Larose and Delani MacKay.

Malia Schneider pushed the Colgate lead to 3-0 at 13:33 of opening frame. Helpers on her 12th goal of the season went to Rosy Demers and Noemi Neubauerova.

The Raiders then potted five goals in the middle frame, including Smigliani's second of the day to kick things off at the 6:08 mark. O'Donohoe added her eighth of the year, before Sydney Bard, MacKay and Larose tallied for an 8-0 advantage after two.

Tanner Gates then netted the lone third period tally to cap the scoring in the contest. 

Larose had a game-high four points on a goal and three assists. Smigliani (2 goals, 1 assist) and MacKay (1 goal, 2 assists) had three points, while five other registered multiple points. 

In goal, RPI freshman Amanda Rampado made 24 saves on 30 shots in 27:38 of game time, while classmate Ena Nystrom turned away 16 of the 19 shots she faced.
