TROY, N.Y. - An NCAA Tournament automatic berth is on the line on Sunday afternoon at ECAV Arena when the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team hosts Ithaca College in the Liberty League Tournament Championship Game beginning at 2pm. Rensselaer, which is 23-3, is the top seed, while the 22-5 Bombers are the third seed.
RPI advanced to the final with a 78-58 win over fourth-seeded Union on Saturday and Ithaca won 80-72 against second-seeded Hobart.Â
Sunday's game is the third meeting between the Engineers and Bombers. Rensselaer won 72-64 in Ithaca on January 25 but lost 68-66 in Troy on February 9. The defeat snapped a school record-tying 18-game winning streak for RPI, which has won five games since.Â
The Bombers knocked the Engineers out of the 2019 Liberty League Tournament, 88-74 in the first round in Ithaca.
