Liz Brady recorded a game-high nine points to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team to an 18-3 victory of DeSales University, on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Engineers improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Bulldogs drop to 2-3.
Brady led the charge early for RPI, scoring or assisting on four of the game's first five goals, as the Engineers opened up a 5-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes. Freshman
Megan Shay netted two during the run.
Kayla Kearns got DeSales on the board with her fourth goal of the season with 19:10 to play in the first half.
RPI then finished the opening stanza on a 6-0 run that saw it take a 11-1 lead to the break. Brady scored two more times, while assisting on another for eight first half points. Junior
Nora Molino tallied a pair of goals as well, including the final tally of the half with 1:17 remaining.
Brady picked up her eighth point of the game just under nine minutes into the second half. Her fourth goal of the day and fifth of the season gave the Engineers a 12-1.Â
Scoring the first seven goals of the second half, RPI took an 18-1 lead with 7:30 to play, when
Sabrina Torcellini netted her seventh goal of the season. Senior Nichole Zimmer also collected her seventh of the year during the outburst, with Brady claiming her fifth assist of the contest on the play.
