At Rensselaer, we are proud to recognize the student-athletes who are members of the Class of 2020. We thank them for their hard work, dedication and tremendous efforts in representing the Institute in a first-class manner academically and athletically. We wish them well as they continue to complete the semester and become Rensselaer alumni / alumnae.

While at Rensselaer:
Captain of cross country and track & field as senior ... Cross Country: Ran at NCAA Championship once ... NCAA Atlantic Regional twice ... All-Liberty League twice ... All-Region once ... Track & Field: Set indoor career-bests in mile, 3000 and 5000 as senior ... All-Region in steeple as junior ... Environmental Engineering major ... Dean's Honor List ... Internships at World Wildlife Fund (financial branch) and Massachusetts Department of Transportation (highway engineering).

Favorite sports memory during career?
"It's a tie between winning Cross Country Regionals in 2018 by a huge margin, and hugging and celebrating with my teammates after they cheered me on through breaking 15 minutes in the 5k for the first time." - March 2020

What makes Rensselaer so special?
"The sense of community. Everyone at RPI has their own quirks, but everyone is understanding, friendly, and greets you with open arms. Being different is a positive and is recognized as such." - March 2020

What are your post-graduation plans?
"Co-terminal masters program at RPI in environmental engineering." - March 2020

From the coaching staff:
"Johnny brings a light-heartedness to the team on a daily basis; his fun, care-free attitude helps the team enjoy practice and the people that get to work out with him loved being a part of his group. While he is care-free regularly in practice, when it came to competing it was rare to see someone try harder. For three years Johnny had one speed - all out - from the gun, he would run until the legs fell off. His senior year when he finally put it all together he broke out and became one of our best." - March 2020

What others say:
"Johnny was an incredible captain. Always had the best advice and stories to tell the younger people on the team who needed to hear it. Made every day at practice a little more fun and relaxed, and was always ready to listen when people had issues." - March 2020

"Johnny is one of the nicest people I know and he has always been there to help me whenever I needed it." - April 2020

"Johnny brought the team together as one happy family." - April 2020

"There's a reason Johnny is a fan-favorite on the team. He is always great to be around, and his encouragement is part of the reason so many of us really bought into the program this year." - April 2020

"A great leader and a great friend; he always kept a good sense of humor about everything regardless of whether you just had the worst race of your life or the best. He always kept me smiling and seemed like an endless supply of good fun." - April 2020

"A consistent lover of running for the sake of running. Never fails to smile on the bad days and always brings his best to each practice." - April 2020
