At Rensselaer, we are proud to recognize the student-athletes who are members of the Class of 2020. We thank them for their hard work, dedication and tremendous efforts in representing the Institute in a first-class manner academically and athletically. We wish them well in their futures.

SENIOR CELEBRATION SERIES: Ryan Berlin

While at Rensselaer:
Distance … Captain in cross country … Ran 17 meets in career … Career-best 26:46.7 at Siena Invitational as junior … Ran 1500, mile, 3000 and 5000 in track … Computer Science major ... Dean's Honor List ... Intern at Softheon.

From the coaching staff:
"Ryan walked on to the team as a freshman and continued to fight for his spot over his four years as the team grew more and more competitive. His tenacity to be a part of the team shined through to the point where his dedication to running and the guys actually made him become one of the most respected individuals in the program. He went through three years of having to prove himself to becoming a unanimous captain his senior year, and his leadership through a trying year for him individually helped with the development of so many." - March 2020

What others say:
Ryan Berlin quite literally had to fight for his roster spot every season before his senior year. He came into each season without a guarantee and would have to finish in the top section of the team time trial in order to make it. He would train all summer knowing that there was a good chance he might not make the team. This determination is what made RB so special and why he was voted to captain the team as a senior. His classmates and underclassmen on the team recognized the character that he brought.” - March 2020

"Focused, determined, hard working." - April 2020

“Ryan came onto the team his freshman year as a walk-on and worked really hard to ensure he had a firm spot. With his dedication to training, he saw great improvements and constantly worked his way up the team rankings, even while working through a tough academic schedule. By his later years at RPI, he had become so respected that he was a captain of cross country and helped lead the team to success by being a role model for hard work and team commitment. Off the track, Ryan was always there for a fun time whether it was a game of ping pong, practicing slacklining, or an impromptu trip to the airport for Chick-fil-A. I'm sure his future holds great things and it has been an honor to be his teammate for the past four years.” - April 2020

"Ryan was there to help me when I needed it most." - April 2020

“Hardest working guy you will ever meet.” - April 2020

Dean's Honor List ... Intern with Mediacom and Bon Secours Charity Finance.

"Marc transformed himself in order to climb the depth chart. His dedication to the weight room and classroom made him one of the most versatile athletes in the Liberty League. He led from the front, providing a stellar example for the entire team." - March 2020

What others say:
"As a walk-on, Marc EARNED everything he received as an athlete at RPI. I look up to him not only as a leader, but also as a model of success for those who may have been doubted or looked past. He went from a player who barely made the roster as a freshman to one of the best players in the country by his senior year. Going to miss him leading us every Saturday afternoon.” - March 2020
