Senior Celebration Series: July 17

At Rensselaer, we are proud to recognize the student-athletes who are members of the Class of 2020. We thank them for their hard work, dedication and tremendous efforts in representing the Institute in a first-class manner academically and athletically. We wish them well in their futures.

SENIOR CELEBRATION SERIES: Angelo Aita

While at Rensselaer:
Wide Receiver … Played eight games … Missed 2015 season due to injury … Business and Management major ... Dean's Honor List ... Intern with Greiner Packaging.

From the coaching staff:
"Angelo never stopped learning throughout his five years as a member of the football team. He improved each day while bringing a positive energy regardless of surrounding climate. Grit, determination and savvy are three words that could be used to describe this great player and even better person." - March 2020

SENIOR CELEBRATION SERIES: Andres Guisasola

While at Rensselaer:
Defensive Back … Played 22 career games … Had 40 solo tackles and 24 assisted stops … Six tackles for lost yards (11), two interceptions and six pass breakups … Business and Management major ... Intern with Moss Construction.

From the coaching staff:
"Known as Guis (geese), Andres Guisasola was a tireless worker on and off the field. Being asked to move positions during his senior year due to depth issues, he did not hesitate to do what was best for the team. Andres was a tremendous teammate and person for our program." - March 2020

What others say:
"One of the biggest competitors I've ever played with. I had the privilege of working out with him over the summer and his work ethic amazed me and pushed me to be better. He was a leader in the defensive backs room and was a lock down corner on the field. Everyone's heart dropped when he went down early in the year as he meant so much to his team, but there wasn't a single person who doubted his ability to get back. He was a force and staple of the defense when he returned. He is an even better friend and one that I will definitely keep in touch with post-graduation.” - April 2020

SENIOR CELEBRATION SERIES: Leighton James

While at Rensselaer:
Sprints and hurdles … Competed in 60, 100, 200, 400, 60H, 110H, 400H and relays … Career-best 50.01 in 400 at Boston University as senior … Chemical Engineering major.

From the coaching staff:
Always one to skateboard into practice, just as we are about to begin, Leighton brings a care-free attitude and strong sense of humor along with hard work and track & field talent. He excels as a 400 hurdler, a long sprinter, and a relay runner.  He pushes teammates and competitors in workouts and races and has been closing in on school records and NCAA qualifying marks throughout his career.” - March 2020

What others say:
"Track & field is a sport that is mentally taxing and just plain un-enjoyable at some points. However, Leighton was one of the people who kept me into it. His humor and positive attitude made practice and meets the most fun part of my RPI experience. He will also go down as one of RPI's greatest 400m hurdlers." - April 2020
