BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont women's hockey team scored four unanswered goals to defeat Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at Gutterson Fieldhouse. With the win, the Catamounts improve to 2-0, while the Engineers drop to 0-4.

Hannah Price collected the assists Wagner's second goal of the year, which came on a rebound in front of the net.
The Catamounts answered with three first period tallies, including two on special teams to take a 3-1 advantage after one. Natalie Mlynkova netted a shorthanded tally at 7:11, before Lily Humphrey scored on the power play at 12:32.
Mlynkova then buried her second of the period, from Evelyne Blais-Savoie and Lilly Homes, at 13:30.
Vermont added an insurance goal in the second period, as Sini Karjalainen made it 4-1 at 11:39, with assists to Mlynkova and Ellice Murphy.
RPI junior goaltender
Amanda Rampado (0-4) made a season-high 43 saves, coming one shy of her career-best, while Blanka Skodova had 14 stops at the other end of the ice.
The Engineers are back in action next weekend, when they open ECAC Hockey with a home-and-home series against Union College. Puck drop on Friday in Schenectady is scheduled for 6pm. The Catamounts welcome Colgate to town next weekend for two.
