TROY, N.Y. -
TJ Walsh scored twice and
Jack Agnew had a goal and an assist but it was not enough to overcome five multi-point nights for the 18U U.S. National Team as it defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 7-4 in an exhibition game at Houston Field House. RPI led 2-1 after the first period and the score was tied after two before Team USA tallied four of the five goals in the final frame.
Will Smith (2 goals, 2 assists) had four points, Gabe Perreault (2 goals, 1 assist) had three, and three others had two, including a pair of goals by Danny Stevens, in the victory. Trey Augustine stopped 32 shots in the win.
Brendan Budy also scored for the Engineers, who got 11 saves from
Jack Watson and 17 from
Brett Miller.
RPI is back in action on Friday when it hosts Union College in the ECAC Hockey opener for both schools. Face off is 7pm at the Field House.
