SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Union College men's hockey team scored four goals in the third period and Connor Murphy stopped all 23 shots he faced to lead the Dutchmen over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 6-0 in an ECAC Hockey game at Messa Rink. Union salvaged a split in the weekend's home-and-home series after RPI won 3-2 on Friday in Troy.

Michael Hodge gave the home team a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game and the score remained that way until there was less than a minute left in the second period. Tyler Watkins scored on the power play at 19:39 to make it 2-0 after 40 minutes.

In the third, Carter Korpi scored back-to-back power play goals at 5:47 and 9:09, respectively, and Josh Nixon added another tally just 33 seconds after Korpi's second. The final goal came with 2:03 left off the stick of Chaz Smedsrud,

Murphy earned the shutout for the Dutchmen, who won 33 of 54 face offs and blocked 15 more shots than the Engineers (19-4).

Jack Watson (14 saves) and Brett Miller (2) combined for 16 saves for RPI, which travels to the North Country next weekend.
