SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -
Kyle Osborne had a goal and an assist to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over rival Union College in a Liberty League contest on Saturday afternoon at College Park Field.
The Engineers found the back of the net in the 13th minute on an initial head ball from Osborne that hit the cross bar and the loose ball bounced around before finding
Gabe Terando, who put it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Union responded and scored into the 31st minute. Evan Perry settled a failed clear from RPI before passing to Christian Rufo, who one timed the pass through the box and found the foot of senior Evan Farr. Farr sliding, was able to deflect the ball past the RPI goalkeeper
Luke Brezak and into the back of the net.
RPI finished the first half with a 3-2 lead in shots and 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Rensselaer jumped back ahead on a quick restart following a foul. They lifted a cross into the box that found Osborne, who headed it in for his fourth of the season and a 2-1 lead.Â
Brezak finished with three saves, while Sean Speck stopped four on the other end.
