TROY, N.Y. - Lauren Haley stopped all six shots she faced and two of her teammates scored first half goals to lead the Plattsburgh State University women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in a non-league game at the Field House Complex. The Cardinals improve to 4-0-0, while the Engineers drop to 0-2-1.
Haley, a sophomore, made two saves in the first half and four in the second when RPI out-shot Plattsburgh 9-4 and had a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Two of her saves came against
Sonya Heldman, who had four shots in total.Â
The home team broke out on top in the 15th minute when graduate student Kirsten Villemaire scored for the second time this season. Junior Nora Fitzgerald followed with her second goal of the year in the 28th minute.

Sierra Skelding made one save in the final 45 minutes.
RPI next game is Saturday at SUNY Cortland (1pm), while the Cardinals host Middlebury College next Wednesday (7pm).
