OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team squared up with No. 6 Oswego State on Saturday afternoon, as the Engineers fell 73-45 in the championship game of the Oswego Tip-Off Tournament.
Dylan Matchett scored a team-high 11 points for RPI, as the Engineers offense struggled offensively shooting just 28.6 (14-fo-49) from the field. Johnny Angbazo had nine points on the game, and
PJ Scalisi had five rebounds and a pair of blocks.
For Oswego, Jeremiah Sparks scored a game-high 17 points, with Cartier Bowman adding 14 points to lead the Lakers. Bowman added 12 rebounds to collect a double-double on the day.
Oswego led from start to finish, hitting back-to-back three pointers to begin the game. The Engineers kept it within two possessions throughout the first 10 minutes of the first half, but the Lakers kicked up a gear and opened up a 17-point lead at the half.
That lead continued into the second half, as the Lakers finished the game strong by moving their lead to a game-high 28 points by the final horn.
RPI returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. when they take on SUNY Poly on the road.
