TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team and head coach Dave Smith has announced the addition of freshman defenseman Jimmy Goffredo to the roster, effective immediately. Goffredo will join the team for the team's weekend of games at Canisius starting Friday, January 29.
 
"Jimmy is a dynamic player who adds a new dimension to our defense," said Smith. "His smooth skating and puck handling skills make him a threat to jump into the play offensively, while his defensive awareness and commitment to breaking the puck out will allow him to excel in all three zones."
 
A native of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, Goffredo was in his first season with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL, appearing in 22 games with one goal and four assists for five points. The season prior, Goffredo spent the season with the Austin Bruins of the NAHL playing in 69 games, scoring 16 goals and totaling up 43 points.
