Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - Caleb Holdridge scored three times, including the game-winning goal at 3:12 of overtime, to lead the Coast Guard Academy men's lacrosse team to a 12-11 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in the opening game for both squads. 
The Engineers, who are ranked No. 17 in Division III, forced overtime by scoring the only four goals of the fourth quarter to erase an 11-7 deficit. Freshman 
Cooper Manzi tallied at 14:37 to snap a four-goal string by the Bears and then he tallied again at 12:30 to make it an 11-9 score. Classmate Tyler Ruffni pulled the Engineers to within one goal at 8:11 and then 
Luke Murphy, a senior, tied the game with 2:50 to play. The point was the third for Murphy, who scored earlier and set up Manzi once.
Manzi finished with three goals, six teammates had one apiece and 
Angelo Venuto won 16 of 23 face-offs. Holdridge was one of two from Coast Guard with three goals as Taylor Gustafson scored three times with an assist. Dan Lucas made six saves in the win while 
Joseph Perry stopped nine shots on the other end. 
Gustafson started the scoring at 11:01 of the first quarter but was quickly matched off a face-off win and marker by Venuto. The teams traded the next six goals before 
Cian Hilkewich put RPI ahead 5-4 with 11:25 left in the second quarter. Manzi's first of the game came 3:25 later for a 6-4 lead. Nick Castro of Coast Guard cut into it 7:42 and that is how the half ended.
The Bears scored six of the seven goals in the third quarter to take their biggest lead before Rensselaer mounted its comeback in the fourth quarter.
