TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's ice hockey team finished its weekend with a 3-0 shutout over Harvard today in Houston Field House.
Andrea Trnkova had one goal and one assist, while
Kyley Toye and
Ellie Kaiser netted one score apiece for the Engineers.
Georgia Bailey distributed two assists to match Trnkova with a multi-point effort.
Taylor Larsen,
Nina Christof, and
Aylah Cioffi also provided helpers in the victory.
Reese Keating turned away 27 shots in net for the Engineers to earn her third clean sheet of the season.
Toye broke open the scoring with four minutes remaining in this first period, as she got her stick on wrister from Trnkova for the first goal of her collegiate career.
After the first frame ended with RPI leading 1-0, Kaiser snapped a shot into the upper corner of the Harvard net 47 seconds into the second period to double the Engineer margin.
Trnkova would provide RPI its third goal for minutes after Kaiser's score. Trnkova danced her way from the blue line to the front of the crease before finding twine with her strong hand.
Next up, the Engineers will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to challenge Colgate at 3:00 pm on Friday.
