COBLESKILL, NY- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team manufactured a 9-0 rally across the final 2:29 of regulation to earn a 63-60 win at SUNY Cobleskill this afternoon.
Avery Eugster registered a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead the Engineers to the victory. Eugster also had four the Engineers' 11 steals on the afternoon.
Andrew Deppe and PJ Scalisi contributed 11 points apiece, and Chuck Clemons aided the RPI offense with 10 points. Clemons grabbed eight boards and Scalisi distributed a team-high three assists as well.
Trailing by two following a back and forth first 20 minutes, the Engineers started the second half on a 22-8 run to establish an advantage that reached 12 points.
Cobleskill would not go away quietly however, as the hosts responded to its double-digit deficit with 22 of the next 28 points to take a six point lead with two and half minutes left.
Clemons and Eugster combined to score seven of RPI's nine points in the closing sprint. The Engineers also created two turnovers and held the Tigers to 0-for-3 shooting to secure the comeback win.
RPI will look to improve its 5-0 start with a home meeting against SUNY Delhi at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 1.
