CANTON, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's ice hockey team started its weekend up north with a draw at ECAC rival St. Lawrence tonight.
Taylor Larsen, Aylah Cioffi, and Georgia Bailey each tallied goals on an evening that saw both teams score in bunches.
After Larsen and Cioffi recorded first period strikes to give the Engineers a 2-0 lead, the Saints netted the next three goals to take a one goal advantage before Bailey tied things at 3-3 with eight minutes left in the third.
The Engineers weathered two momentum-shifting scores from the Saints tonight, as the hosts found the back of the net with under 40 seconds left in each of the first and second periods.
St. Lawrence finished its scoring streak with a go-ahead tally at 2:05 in the third, creating the opportunity for Bailey to equalize 10 minutes later.
Bailey also played a key role in the shootout period, as she contributed one of RPI's successful attempts in the session. Charlotte Wensley also beat Saints goaltender Hillary Sterling in the shootout.
Meg Hildner, Natalie Tulchinsky, Andrea Trnkova, Maddy Papineau entered the stat sheet with one assist apiece in the RPI win.
The Engineers wrap their trip with a 3:00 pm meeting with #6 Clarkson tomorrow at Cheel Arena in Potsdam.
