Engineers Blitzed Early by New Hampshire

TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team returned from a two week break to host New Hampshire in a non-conference matchup this afternoon in Houston Field House.

New Hampshire, who received votes in the most recent USCHO national rankings, netted the first four goals of the game on the way to a 7-4 road triumph.

The visiting Wildcats tallied all three scores in the opening period and the first goal of the second frame before Jagger Tapper and Gustavs Ozolins posted back-to-back goals to halve the deficit to 4-2 going into the final period. New Hampshire would strike three times in the first seven minutes of the third to expand their advantage to five goals.

Will Gilson and Tyler Hotson each pocketed goals in the final minutes of the game to cap the scoring for the Engineers.

Tapper, Ozolins, and Gilson added one assist apiece to finish the night with multiple points. John Beaton distributed two assists to finish with two points as well.

RPI will jump back into ECAC play with a 7:00 pm contest at Yale on Friday evening.
