SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball team registered 18 hits this afternoon, as seven different Engineers logged multi-hit efforts in today's 10-2 non-conference victory at Western New England College.
Matt Chotiner and
Martin Marintchev led RPI with three hits apiece on the day.
Kameron Levesque,
Julian Scarpa,
Joey Saia,
Aidan Hicks, and
Robbie Reddington each provided two hits apiece in the offensive outburst as well.
RPI batted through the lineup in a second inning that saw the Engineers total six runs on seven hits. Hicks and Levesque each plated a run each with an RBI single, while
Ayush Krishnappa drove in two with a single to right. The Engineers benefited from two runs off Golden Bear wild pitches as well in the big inning.Â
The Engineers added solo runs in the third and fifth innings before securing the win with two insurance runs in the seventh.
Jon Primerano took a hit by pitch with the bases loaded to allow a run to score in the third, while Marintchev knocked in Primerano with a single in the fifth.
Marintchev doubled in a run and Levesque tallied another RBI single in the eighth to help RPI put away their fourth win in the last five contests.Â

Five Engineer pitchers teamed to limit the Western New England lineup to just two runs on six hits.
Mike Nelson earned surrendered just one hit in his 2.1 innings to earn the win, while
Dylan Watson went the final 3.0 innings to tally the save.
RPI looks ahead to a four-game weekend series against New York University, starting on Friday afternoon at Karl Steffen Ballpark.
