SCHENECTADY, NY- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball team posted a seven-run seventh inning to secure a 7-3 victory against Union this afternoon in Central Park. With the win, the Engineers cap off a Liberty League series victory over the Garnet Chargers, following a split of Saturday's doubleheader between these two squads in Troy.
The Engineers were trailing 2-0 before utilizing four hits and three walks to put up their seven-spot in the game-changing inning today.Â
Aidan Hicks and
Kameron Levesque had already plated runs for RPI with bases-loaded walks in the frame before
Julian Scarpa blasted things open with a three-run home run out to right field.
Scarpa reached base four times on the afternoon, as he went 2-for-3 with two walks in the win.
Levesque and
Stephen Koval each had two hits for RPI, while
Martin Marintchev drew three walks.
Rylan Wade got the win on the mound for the Engineers after scattering three hits in 6.0 innings.Â
Looking ahead, the Engineers are set to travel to Middlebury College for a 3:30 pm non-conference meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
